The place
Altın Apart stood in the Küçüksu neighbourhood of Altınoluk on the street where the Saturday market is held, 150–300 metres from the sea and the town centre, within a hundred to four hundred metres of the Migros and Tansaş supermarkets, the bazaar and a petrol station, with quiet wide streets for parking. The 2012 text introduced it as “Apart Toprak”, newly built and opening to guests for the first time in the summer season of 2009 with everything — beds, bedding, seating — in use for the first time.
The flats
Nine flats in all, 1+1 and 2+1, for one to five people; rooms for two or three; terrace-floor rooms with sea views. Every flat had air conditioning and central heating, satellite TV, 24-hour hot water, wireless internet, a barbecue, a fridge, a hob, a balcony and a full set of kitchen equipment, so guests could cook “in the comfort of home”.
Around it
The site’s Altınoluk guide placed the town between Küçükkuyu and Akçay, a former village called Papazlık that grew along the Edremit Gulf with tourism, famous for its cool clear sea and low humidity from the Kaz Dağları’s oxygen-rich air. It recommended the Hasanboğuldu and Sütüven waterfalls, the villages of Yeşilyurt and Adatepe, the Tahtakuşlar ethnography museum, the hot springs at Güre, walks up the Şahin Dere canyon, and day trips to Ayvalık, Assos and Çanakkale.
The guests
A reviews page carried messages from 2012 and 2013 — families from Istanbul and Tekirdağ thanking the hosts by first name for a clean apart, a lovely garden, barbecue evenings and “feeling at home”, and promising to return. The hosts’ and guests’ names are not reproduced here.
The website
The 2012 site ran on a small Turkish hosting CMS (“?magaza=” pages: Apartımız, Apart Odalarımız, Aktiviteler, Konumumuz, Misafir Mesajları, Resim Galerisi, İletişim). In 2016 it was replaced by static pages — Daireler, Galeri, Altınoluk, Rezervasyon, Yorumlar, İletişim — which were still being served in May 2019. Those addresses redirect here. Phone numbers are not reproduced.
